Have You Ever Been on a Brewery Tour?

I did a couple of brewery tours when I lived in Washington. One was with Road Dogs Brewery Tours in Seattle, and the other with a different tour company ( I can’t remember the name) in Tacoma. I had a great time on both tours. There was a very diverse group of people on both tours. There were of course some locals, some were visiting from other parts of Washington, and a few were tourists. There was even one couple visiting from Japan, and another from Australia.

There were good groups on my tours. We swapped stories about we had visited in the past, and beers we had sampled and loved- or hated. On both tours we visited 3 different craft breweries, listened to brewers and brewery owners talk about how they got their start, and sample a wide variety of beers of which they were proud, and rightly so. Good times were had by all.

Now I find myself living in Richmond, VA. There are quite a few brewery tours to choose from here, and near by. In Richmond you have Richmond Brewery Tours, and the RVA Brew Crew. James Limousine has brewery tours in available in Richmond, Williamsburg, and Charlottesville, and there is also Blue Ridge Brew Excursions in Charlottesville, Brew Ridge Tours in Lynchburg, and many more through out Virginia.

I have not been on a brewery tour in Virginia, and while you certainly don’t need to be part of a tour to visit any of the local craft breweries or tap rooms, there is something about being a part of a group and sharing the experience with a dozen or so of your new closest friends that makes the experience even better. And of course being able to talk to the brewer or brewery owner, hear them tell how they got where they are today, and describe what went into the beer you are sampling makes it even more special. Of course having someone else drive is always a plus!

So I ask, have you been on a brewery tour? If so, where? Who was it with? How was it?
