Dark Knight of Winter Beer Festival at St George Brewing in Hampton, VA!

Winter storm warnings didn’t stop these craft beer lovers from attending St George Brewing’s Dark Knight of Winter festival! Despite the cold rain (which briefly turned into a wintry mix) good times were had at by all.

This festival was a celebration of dark beer. Not just Stouts, but Black Lagers, Porters, Schwarzbier, Doppelbocks, and even a Belgian Quad. Each was masterfully and lovingly crafted by incredibly talented craft brewers from around Virginia.

There were 23 Virginia craft breweries on hand competing against each other for the people’s choice award, as well as awards in a number of categories chosen by Colonial Ale Smiths and Keggers (CASK) in a blind tasting.

The winning beers were:

Darkest beer went to Dragon Run Brewing for their “Open Da Pubs” Coffee Caramel Stout with a SRM of 159.5.

Best Body went to St. George Brewing Company for their “Raspberry Marshmallow Imperial Stout”.

Best Head was awarded to O’Connor Brewing Company’s “Midnight In Prague”.

EisbockBest in show was Vibrant Shores “Spectral Signature” Milk Stout.

And the People’s Choice Award went to MoMac Brewing Company’s “Flemish Horse” Belgian Quad aged in Maple Syrup Bourbon Barrels!

Nosh and Chicken Stop food trucks were serving up some really good food, and there was a heated covered area to sit in.

This was a great event, and St George did a great job hosting.

Here’s to hoping we can do this again next year!

Cheers!
