There’s something about That Damn Mary Brewing Co in Gloucester, VA

Last year, That Damn Mary Brewing Company (TDM) opened its doors, much to the delight of craft beer lovers in Gloucester County VA.

Owner and brewer Mary Jane Anderson (she says anyone who knows her calls her MJ), after a 25-year career as a regional executive with the Peninsula Metropolitan YMCA, decided to pursue her true passion in life and open a craft brewery.

MJ said that she started home brewing years ago, after realizing she could brew her own beer at home for less than she paid for it in stores. She soon realized she had a talent for brewing, and her hobby grew into a passion, which eventually led her to the decision to open That Damn Mary Brewing.

MJ brews a variety of craft beers from lagers and ales to milk stouts and kettle sours, and insists on using local ingredients whenever possible to brew the most exceptional, highest quality, and most flavorful craft beer she can.

Mark Twain once said, “If you can find a job you enjoy doing, you’ll never have to work a day in your life.” And after talking to MJ and sampling her work, I think she’s found her Huckleberry. And I think we are all a little better for it.

Cheers!
