Know Good Beer Winter Fest in Charlottesville- Were you there?

Last Saturday Charlottesville once again hosted the annual  Know Good Beer Winter Fest inside the IX Art Park Event Space, and once again this event was sold out.

The weather was nearly perfect. The temp was near 60 with almost no wind, and no rain. VIP admission started at 1pm, and general admission began at 2pm. There was unlimited sampling of craft beer, cider, whisky and other beverages, the bands were crazy good, and there was some amazing food for sale. The wood fired brick oven pizza was my favorite.

Of course the craft beer was the real star of this event. And while it is always great to have your favorite craft beers, the best part of an event like this is getting to try new craft beers- and there were a lot to try!  It is truly the best way to sample and to discover the best beer you have never had. And even with only 2 to 4 oz samples, there were so many choices, it would be nearly impossible to try everything, let alone get seconds of your favorites, without needing help walking home. God bless my designated driver!

Of course there was more than beer available for sampling. There were a number of whiskeys, gins, and vodkas, and other things to be sampled from craft distillers across Virginia and Kentucky. There were also a couple of vendors offering coffee drinks, and one offering mixed drinks!

When you entree the event, you were not only given a sampling glass, but a pencil and a program which included a map of the event and a list of the brewers and distillers, as well as their offerings, so you could check off the ones you’ve tried and make notes.

This event was well run and well thought out. Without a doubt good times we had by all who attended. Personally, I’m looking forward to their next event.
